Mission Statement
The California Surf Museum serves as an international repository and resource center on the lifestyle sport of surfing through capturing, preserving, and chronicling its art, culture and heritage for the education and enjoyment of future generations.
Goals and objectives
To secure a permanent seaside location which enhances the museum's objective to serve as an attractive, accessible visitor destination.
To develop a physical plant which enables the museum to capture and portray surfing as a lifestyle, subculture, highlighting its pioneering legends, their equipment, art and music.
To provide the casual visitor, serious student and veteran surfer with an equally rewarding entertainment and educational experience.
To implement integrated funding mechanisms which attract sustained support from community, industry and individual sources.
To create and maintain a professionally-managed, fiscally-sound organization which is respected by its community and within the nonprofit sector.
The Museum is actively locating, collecting, documenting and preserving historic surfing and surfing-related artifacts and memorabilia. Through a series of rotating exhibits, we present a varied picture of the many facets of Surfing.
Collections
The museum gratefully accepts donations of surfing artifacts and will gladly share them with the viewing public. A large percentage of items on display at any one time are loaned to us by interested supporters. These pieces are carefully itemized and insured. This system allows us to present a rich depiction of a chosen theme, and to show one major and several minor themes per year.
If you have any item(s) to donate, please contact call 760-721-6876
